Ed Smith was born in Naples, Italy in 1959. He received a BFA from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and an MFA from Brooklyn College, CUNY. He taught painting and drawing at Queens College in the early 1990’s. Currently, he divides his time between Greenport, on Long Island’s North Fork, and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he is an Assistant Professor of Painting at Louisiana State University.

 

Smith was the featured artist in the Spring/Summer 2001 edition of The New Delta Review and his work has been exhibited at venues throughout the United States. including, among others: Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire Westbeth Gallery, New York, New York Queens College, New York, New York Sylvia Schmidt Gallery, New Orleans, Louisiana Soren Christiansen Gallery, New Orleans, Louisiana The Walter Anderson Museum, Ocean Springs, Mississippi The Contemporary Art Center, New Orleans, Louisiana.
